Tim Welch is a Voice Teacher, Performer, and Music Producer who has worked with performers from broadway stars to Grammy winning artists. Tim received his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of Illinois. Shortly after receiving his degree, he worked professionally in opera and musical theatre both in the United States and abroad. Even though Tim has extensively studied classical voice, his experience is far from limited to the classical music world. Each week Tim works with: Singer/Songwriters, Electronic Musicians, Hip Hop/R&B performers, Church Musicians and Jazz singers wearing the hat of vocal instructor, music producer or musical mentor. Tim’s studio has served an average of over 40 clients each week for the last decade and he enjoys working with beginners as much as professionals.
In 2009 Tim left his full-time vocal studio in Denver, Colorado to go on the road with his wife Elizabeth Welch, a Christine cover in the National Tour of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
While touring the country with his wife Elizabeth Welch (now a Christine in PHANTOM on Broadway) and their 5 year old daughter Vivian, Tim found time to teach regular voice lessons to several of the cast members in the show. In addition to those singing lessons, Tim also started an online virtual voice studio and developed his youtube instructional channel which now has over 350,000 views! Tim offers online singing lessons to singers from Denver to Switzerland. Tim is equipped to use Skype, iChat or ooVoo to connect with his students.
Tim is also a critically acclaimed performer, who is constantly honing his skills in singing Musical Theatre, Jazz, Classical and Contemporary Styles. He also actively pursues songwriting and composition. During the summer of 2012 Tim started Sojourn Society an 80's inspired electropop band here in NYC. In addition to "Sojourn Society" Tim launched a solo indie dance project in January 2015 called Volf Yunge which recently had tracks signed to Australian record label Hi-Tech Records.
As a vocal instructor, Tim’s unique singing method teaches students how to effectively breakdown the differences between singing styles so they will be versatile, flexible and healthy singers. His voice students range from Grammy winning artists, to young singers trying to gain entry into universities for performance, to Broadway performers, to absolute beginners.
